4/28 - Review

2. Review sheet. We went over some of the topics from the final exam including subject pronouns, adjective agreement, and definite and indefinite articles.

4/27 - Irregular verbs

1. Complete application of a verb. trabajar/Juan
2. Irregular verb flashcards. Students made sure they have a complete set of 14 verbs, with Spanish on one side and English on the other. Use these cards to study meanings. Then, students made 5 cards, each with a type of irregularity on it. They are e-ie stemchanger, e-i stemchanger, o/u-ue stemchanger, totally irregular, and irregular yo/-go.
3. On the back of each type of irregularity, they wrote which verbs belong in each category. This is so that students can lay out the 5 categories, and then try to sort the cards so that they can study the irregulars.

La tarea - Study irregs for practice quiz tomorrow. (no grade in gradebook, but should give you an idea of if you are on the right track).

4/25 - Preparacion para el examen, verbos irregulares

1. Complete application of a verb - yo, estudiar
2. Essay prep - see a couple of old essays, talk about rubric.
3. Verbos irregulares - list of 14 irregular verbs, first we did meanings, then identified their irregularities, then filled in the "yo" forms.
4. Students made flash cards. They need to put the 14 irregular verbs on the cards, Spanish on one side, English on the other. They should also make one card for each of the 5 types of irregularities - total irregs, e-ie, e-i, o/u-ue, irreg yo. They should each have 5 cards left over. Don't worry, we'll find a use for them.

4/20 - complete application of a verb, possessive adjectives

1. Review workbook pp88-89.
2. Complete application of a verb - every day until the final exam, we will do this activity as an esponja. I will give students a verb and a subject, and they will have to conjugate it in 12 or so usages (ie - I, to ski - I ski, I like to ski, I have to ski, I am going to ski, I prefer to ski, etc.)
3. Possessive adjectives - we have been using mi/mis for my, tu/tus for your. We added in the rest of the forms. Please see here for an explanation.
4. WB p90 together
5. Text - p 232 and 233, act 18 and 20.

4/19 - ser/estar, irregular verbs, essay practice

1. collect parent letters, pen pal letters, drawings.
2. Using packets from yesterday, review ser/estar and how to choose which one to use. We went over the first 2 sections 8-9 questions where students had to choose the correct verbs, conjugate it, give reason for choice.
3. Irregular verbs from packet, we reviewed the different types of irregulars and went over that part of the packet.
4. Essay practice - students wrote a few sentences about school.

La tarea: Bring packets and workbooks tomorrow!!!

4/18 - Ser/estar review, irregular verb review

1. In preparation for the district common final exam, we will be reviewing all major grammatical topics we have learned this year. Today's review topics are ser and estar (conjugating and choosing between them), and irregular verbs.

4/15 - vocabulario, quiz, presentations, WB

0. Turn in parent letter and pen-pal letters, also vocab drawing.
1. Vocab practice
2. great participation on review, so we did a make-your-own quiz. Each student wrote a word from the list on their board and I chose students at random to show their word for the quiz.
3. Oral presentations of paragraph from yesterday. Most kids went so we will have very few that everyone has to take notes on for Tuesday.
4. WB pp 88-89, ALSO you MUST translate one of the pages, you choose which.

La tarea: finish WB pages for Tuesday.

4/14 - Prepare oral presentation, vocab practice. QUIZ TOMORROW!

1. Collect parent letters, penpal letters. DUE TOMORROW!
2. Pass back paragraphs to different people. Everyone had to write a paragraph about the person they got. These will be read aloud in class tomorrow and Tuesday as an oral presentation.
3. Vocab practice - family vocab "puzzle" questions. ie "La madre de mi madre es ________." (mi abuela) Everyone had to share a question or answer one.
4. Arte - draw a party scene that demonstrates vocab words. You MUST depict all 10 words in the "celebraciones" section of the vocab list, as well as 5 other nouns and 5 verbs. Turn in tomorrow.

La tarea: Lots of it!! Finish pen pal letter, bring in parent letter, finish art, study for vocab quiz (Spanish to English) tomorrow.

4. Text p.229 Act 11 - answer questions in full sentences. We went over these to make them perfect. Turn in.

4. Due to students not doing the activities in class, the rest of the time was spent doing silent workbook pages. Workbook p 86, 87 (do the page, then translate the dialog), 88, and 89.

4/4 - Double verbs, irregulars, TEST ON FRIDAY, ALL WORK DUE THURS.

1. Check/go over WB p82
2. Irregular verb review - students need to start memorizing which verbs are irregular and in what way. We are working with 8 verbs now: tener, venir, poder, jugar, preferir, querer, saber, hacer.
3. Writing practice in preparation for the essay portion of the final exam. Students had to write 6 sentences, leaving 5 blank lines between each sentence. The sentences had to indicate something they can do, want to do, like to do, prefer to do, have to do, are going to do.
4. On the next line, the had to correct their sentences.
5. On the third line, they wrote negative sentences.
6. On the fourth, they had to try to add something to give their sentence something "impressive" for the graders, adding a phrase or strong vocabulary word.
7. On the 5th line, they needed to think of how to ask a question in Spanish to elicit that information.

La tarea: be on time tomorrow; we are going to see the Fairy Tales!!
