4. Mad libs game - students had to fill out a list of words, then they subbed those words into a prewritten paragraph. The results were funny!

2/22 - Lugares, ir

1. New vocab list, but I still missed one word - la calle - the street. Please add that to your list if you didn't in class.
2. Vocab practice with "ir"
3. Conjugating "ir"
4. White boards - draw a place, walk around testing others on the vocab. Then pics on projector.
5. WB p67 - do alone, then go over together.
6. Pass back tests - students had to correct their short answer questions on the back for a participation grade and turn them in.

2/17.- Vocabulario nuevo

1. new chapter vocab - translate and share.
2. new verb "ir" = to go. Conjugated as voy/vas/va/vamos/vais/van
3. Q&A using new vocab - Adonde vas, Prefieres ir a __ o ___, Adonde vas para (leer un libro) (hablar con un doctor) etc.
4. Art project - draw a map of a city and LABEL in Spanish at least 20 places. If you do all 26, you'll get a little extra credit.

2/11 - review and stem changing verbs

1. WB p60, answer, check answers on board.
2. Stem changing verb explanation. Stem changing verbs are often called "Boot verbs" because the conjugated forms that have a change are in the shape of a boot. There is no way to tell if a verb is a stem changer just from looking at it; you have to memorize these. One we have been using is "preferir - to prefer" It is an e to ie stem changer, which means that the "e" in the stem ( the last one before the verb ending -ir) changes to "ie" in the boot forms. See below for an example using the verb "querer - to want."



3. We practiced conjugating many e to ie stemchanging verbs.

4. We also discussed "tener - to want." I call it an "ankle boot verb" because it has an irregular "yo" form (tengo), and then it has the stem change in all the other boot forms.

La tarea: Translate 10 sentences from the worksheet into Spanish. You can do them on the back of the sheet. Watch you conjugated forms of ser and estar, and make sure your adjectives agree with the subject!!!
